From sheep to wall art, for the love of wool.

About me…

Ever since I was old enough to remember I’ve always had pens, pencils and a pad of paper in my hands…. a lifelong love of creativity of all types.

I became hooked on textile art a number of years ago after reading an article in a magazine about wet felting. I had painted in the past & also loved to work with textiles but this seemed a way to combine the two.

Unable to find any local classes I taught myself, & by trial and error I developed my own method of ‘painting with wool’. As I got more experienced I introduced freestyle machine stitching to my pieces and started to hand dye fleece to add texture.

My flock…..my inspiration…..

I try wherever possible to use locally sourced, rare breed fleece. There’s a certain satisfaction to collecting fleece clipped straight from the sheep, washing it, hand dying it and then transforming it into beautiful artwork.

This in turn has lead to a love of sheep, and now I have a small, mixed flock which includes rare breed Wensleydales that provide me with beautiful long curly locks.

I am very lucky to both live and work on Dartmoor National Park. The wonderful scenery of this wild landscape provides an endless source of inspiration to me. Stunning skies & the changing light across the landscape are all reflected in my work.
